My goal is for all of my students to succeed, and I know that in order to make that happen, I must work with each student's individual strengths and methods of learning. I am always sure to provide abundant support and encouragement while students work. I am passionate about mentoring students to help them succeed, rather than just helping them memorize facts off a page. I worked as a resident advisor while in college, as well as an after-school tutor for a middle school in Charlottesville, Virginia. Although my bachelor's degree is in English Literature, I made sure I understood many other subjects by taking part in them directly. For example, I worked in a laboratory at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, helping with the department's biomedical research, for a whole year so that my understanding of my science coursework would be more thorough. Because I pride myself on education through first-hand experience, I have worked in many other countries as well, including countries ranging across Central and South America. I tutor all ages of students, because learning is a constant process, and as a tutor, I want my students to enjoy learning as a creative process.
